The introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) has transformed the automobile industry due to their efficient energy consumption and low maintenance costs. To make EVs more budget-friendly, the central government offers various purchase incentives under the National FAME-II scheme. And, given the advantages, the Maharashtra government also provides further impetus to the transition.
The revised Maharashtra EV policy 2021 aims to make the state the topmost producer of battery-powered electric vehicles in India. The policy also intends to make EVs contribute 10% of all new vehicle registrations by 2025. To do so, EVs purchased in the state have been exempted from registration charges and road tax.
The state government also provides lucrative incentives for EV manufacturing, buying, and installing EV charging stations within the state. The Maharashtra EV subsidy policy will be valid for Five years from the date of issue.
